PS4 controller skinning is a meme that just keeps coming.
There’s the Xbox One controller, the Switch controller, and now a few new skin options for the PS4 Pro.
The Xbox One skin for the Xbox game “The Division” is one of the most popular among PS4 users and it even made its way to Xbox One X. The PS4 skin for “Darksiders II” is also a meme, and it makes the PSN skin of “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” look downright tame.
And finally, a new skin for Destiny 2 is available for PS4.
“This skin is for those who love Destiny 2, or just want to enjoy the game with a different look.”
The skin is available on PS4 for $20, and you can pick up a “skin cell” for $30.
The skins have different effects, and each of the skins includes an “oily” version for the controller.
“We’ve done the same thing on PS3 and PS4 with the PlayStation Plus skin, but for Xbox we went all in with the PS Plus skin,” said John Osterman, head of game design for Bungie.
The “skin cells” that make up the skin work differently on Xbox than on the PS3 or PS4, which is why it makes sense that they make the “skin” meme come to life.
The controller skins also look nice, but the best part is that they’re all free to use and the skin cells can be purchased for $15 a pop.
“With the skin cell, you can take your favorite gaming icon and add some color to your Xbox One or PSVR,” said Ostermaier.
“And the game will look fantastic.
The fact that it’s free means you can have it on your Xbox, so it’s a no-brainer.”
Xbox fans will also get a “skins cell” pack for $25 on the Xbox Marketplace, and for the first time ever, a PlayStation 4 skin will be available for $40.
The game skins have been in the works for some time, and Ostermiers job is to make them look like they belong in the game, not just in a pack.
